This course covers SOL standards 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 which together compromise 5 of the 35 questions on the Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) format which includes 35 actual questions and 5 questions that are being tested for future use and do not count towards the student's score. This is the first course in a four-part series to prepare students to take the Virginia 7th Grade English SOL. The first section of the test, "Use word analysis strategies and word reference materials" includes standards 7.4a, 74.b, 7.4c, 7.4d, and 7.5e. In the traditional format of the English SOL there are 55 questions, 10 of which are being tested for future tests and do not count towards the student's score. Five of the remaining 45 questions come from this section. For the Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) format, this section contributes 5 of the 31 questions on the test.
